After breakfast we
head off, down those dreaded steps, to the Rossio Train station where
we get some tickets to the nearby town of
Sintra. The train is very
full (of tourists) for the entire 40 minute journey. I had done some
research prior and learned that there is a hop on/off bus in Sintra
that will take us to our pre booked events. Untroubled, we find the
bus which takes us up the long and winding road to the Pena Palace.
The facade is a mix of colours and styles and provides wonderful
views. Unfortunately we have to queue for 45 minutes before we can go
inside, which is full of tiled walls and stucco ceilings. We wander
out through the gardens to the bus which takes us to the Sintra
Palace. Not as spectacular as the first but still worth the visit.
Back at home and it’s a bottle of Portugal red and dinner.
